Winter in GTA Online means the Yeti is back. This big hairy monster lives up in the mountains and you can hunt it down for some really good rewards. Players love this event because it pays well and gives you a costume you can’t get anywhere else.

How To Start The Event

Head over to Blaine County and go to the Chiliad Mountain area. It’s a snowy peak and easily recognizable once you see it. After you go to the mountain, a character named Tanner will send you a text message. He’ll say that something attacked him inside the woods and that he wants you to check it out.
You’ll see an objective pop up on your map, which includes all the clue locations.
| Clue Name | Location Description | Reward |
| Deer Carcass | West of center near river, against rocks | $10,000 |
| Body Parts | Dirt road west of center, cliff edge with split tree | $10,000 |
| Car Wreck | East of center below road bend, smashed into tree | $10,000 |
| Bloody Tent | Northwestern area, blue tent on dirt road | $10,000 |
| Torn Shirt | North of center point, in ditch by wrecked vehicle | $10,000 |
The Deer Carcass
Go west from the middle of that circle toward the river. Walk along the water and you’ll see a dead deer by some rocks. Something tore it apart pretty bad. There’s even footprints going north from it. Check the deer and boom, first clue done plus ten thousand in your pocket.
Body Parts
This one’s on the dirt road going west. Stay on that road until you hit a cliff with a broken tree. Body parts are lying around down there at the bottom. Pretty gross but that’s your second clue.
Car Wreck
Now go east instead. You’ll see a car that somehow wrecked into a tree. That’s your clue right there, so go ahead and interact with it.
Bloody Tent
Head to the northwest part of the circle. There’s a dirt path going up that way. Follow it until you find a blue camping tent with a red sleeping bag outside. Everything’s covered in blood. Check the tent for your fourth clue.
Torn Shirt
Last one is north of the center, right by the road. You’ll see a torn up shirt in a ditch next to another busted car. Grab that and you’re done with the clue hunting part.
Getting Ready To Fight

So here’s the deal. The Yeti only comes out between 9 PM and 6 AM game time. If you found all the clues during the day, you need to wait or go do something else until it gets dark.
Bring big guns. I’m talking Minigun or explosives. This thing takes a stupid amount of bullets to kill. Regular guns work but you’ll use up all your ammo real fast.
What You Get For Winning

Kill the Yeti and you get fifty thousand more dollars. Add that to the fifty from the clues and you made a hundred grand total. Not bad for an hour’s work honestly.
You also get the Yeti Outfit that goes in your closet under Outfits: Festive. This is only around during winter events. Miss it and you’re waiting a whole year to get another chance.
If The Yeti Kills You

Don’t stress if you die. You’ll just respawn somewhere and you can go back and try again. Leave the area for a minute, then check your map for that circle to show up again. The Yeti comes back and you get another shot.
Good news is your clue progress saves. You don’t have to find all that stuff again. Just go back at night and finish the job.
Stuff That Actually Helps
- Look for clues when it’s daytime so you can see better
- Stay in invite only sessions so other players don’t mess with you
- Buy armor and ammo before you check that last clue
- Get an armored car like the Insurgent for backup
- Go for headshots because they do more damage
- Don’t try to punch the Yeti, it will wreck you
This event only lasts until early January so you have some time but not forever. Don’t wait until the last day though. Servers can act up or other problems might happen and you’ll miss out.
Do it once and you’re set. The outfit stays in your wardrobe forever and the money goes right into your bank. Way better than most seasonal stuff Rockstar does because you don’t need hours and hours, plus you can do it solo without dealing with random people trying to kill you.
